Some Pie-ple
Question: Why does Ethel Merman seem so angry at blueberry pie in the song "Some People" from "Gypsy" when she sings "Goodbye to blueberry pie?"
Answer which I just figured out: That's just how she sings. With anger and determination.
Ethel was famous for never needing a mic. And being married to Ernest Borgnine.
I'm guessing the name Ethel will not be embraced by hipsters, even though similar names are being slapped on kids these days.
What's the gum angle to this? Fond memories of the only blueberry gum I can think of...Hubba Bubba.
